Adhesives and Sealants: Enabling Innovation in the Fast-Growing Medical Device Market

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of bonding technologies across a wide range of industries, including construction, transportation, electronics, healthcare and clean technologies. Although often invisible to end users, adhesives and sealants play a crucial role in improving energy efficiency, supporting the circular economy, enabling innovation and strengthening the competitiveness of European value chains.
A platform to tell the story of the industry
Smart Bonds has been created as a shared platform to give greater visibility to the adhesives and sealants industry, providing a common narrative that highlights the sector’s contribution through stories, case studies and real-life examples. The initiative demonstrates how bonding technologies enable the development of innovative products and solutions that people and businesses rely on every day.

By sharing these stories, we aim to promote a better understanding of how adhesives and sealants contribute to sustainability, innovation and Europe’s industrial competitiveness.”
A collective effort across the value chain
FEICA is encouraging members, partners and industry stakeholders to actively participate in the initiative by exploring, sharing and amplifying its content through their own communication channels and networks. The goal is to build a collective narrative that strengthens recognition of the essential role adhesives and sealants play in supporting Europe’s sustainability objectives, industrial resilience and long-term competitiveness.
With Smart Bonds, FEICA aims to provide the sector not only with a new communication platform, but also with a tool to increase awareness among institutions, businesses and the wider public. The initiative highlights the contribution of a technology that may often remain invisible, but is indispensable for the continued development of European industry.
