16 April 2026The global construction adhesives market is entering a phase of steady growth through 2035, supported by the expansion of prefabricated building techniques and the growing demand for more durable and energy-efficient buildings. According to analyses by IndexBox, the sector this year benefits from stronger demand fundamentals, more disciplined supply chains, and greater regional diversification of production.
Adhesives used in construction—including polyurethane, epoxy, silicone, acrylic, and hybrid formulations—are playing an increasingly central role in modern building systems, evolving from simple auxiliary materials into engineered components essential for ensuring structural performance, durability, and energy efficiency.
Market growth will be driven by global urbanization, infrastructure investment, and the gradual adoption of off-site construction methods such as prefabrication and modular building, which require extensive use of high-performance adhesives. At the same time, increasingly stringent environmental regulations are accelerating the development of low-VOC (volatile organic compound) formulations, stimulating innovation but also raising compliance costs for manufacturers.
From a demand perspective, residential construction represents the main end-use sector, accounting for around 38% of the market. This is driven both by new construction in emerging countries and by renovation and energy retrofitting activities in mature economies. It is followed by the commercial and industrial segments, where demand is rising for adhesives compatible with sustainable building certifications, and by the infrastructure segment, supported by programs to upgrade bridges, roads, and concrete structures.
The prefabrication segment is particularly dynamic and is expected to record the highest growth rates, driven by the need for fast and automated assembly processes in factories producing construction modules and panels. In this context, adhesives are increasingly replacing traditional mechanical fastening systems, offering advantages in terms of load distribution, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic quality.
Overall, the outlook for the coming decade points to steady growth, with opportunities concentrated among players capable of combining high technical performance, environmental sustainability, and application solutions for industrialized construction.
For all industry professionals, the key event is ABS Europe 2026 – Adhesives, Bonding & Sealants, the first exhibition in Italy and the Mediterranean area dedicated to adhesives, glues, sealants, foams, tapes, resins, coatings, laminates, and films, which will take place from October 27 to 29, 2026 at Fiera di Vicenza.
